Photography Tours
Both novice and experienced photographers will find something special on my photography tours. handcrafted itineraries based on my personal experience in the regions and collaboration with boutique travel operators. The expeditions are designed to make the most of photographic opportunities along the journey but also allow time to share knowledge on a one-to-one basis. Specialized notes and a series of instructional themes are included in the package, or simply take the opportunity to learn directly from a professional.
Anyone with a passion for travel or photography will find new inspiration on these adventures. My philosophy of the camera is simple: Go slow, get closer, and look for the light.
If you want to explore your creative potential, learn about the basics of photography, or gain a little professional insight, then these tours are a magnificent way to do it. If you’re ready to learn new skills while you travel, then this is the trip for you. If you want to spend quality time with like-minded people and enjoy the sharing of knowledge and experiences, then we would love to have you along.I never want to run a photography tour with more than 8 people, let alone 12 or 16. Smaller groups mean less drama, more fun, and are infinitely more rewarding. My first responsibility is to ensure every person on my tour gets plenty of my time and advice, plus to ensure we don’t ruin a lovely location by dragging a horde of photographers about. Small isn’t just good; it’s great!
Any of our current itineraries can be scheduled for private groups, many for as few as four people. Have a look at some of our past research trips and unique adventures for ideas on where your camera club or group of friends could customize a photographic adventure…
Private Tours and Research Trips:
The Better Travel Photography range of travel photography tours are bespoke photographic holidays, designed and led by Jordan Tours with land arrangements by Jordan Tours. They draw on Eid Nawafleh’s years of experience and intimate knowledge of some of the most fascinating and evocative parts of the planet.
These travel photography trips will benefit your photography in a number of ways. Firstly, you will be exploring some of the most incredible and photogenic parts of the world on a tour designed around photography and maximizing the photographic opportunities. You will also be in the company of other keen photographers, benefiting from their enthusiasm and experience. You will certainly not be looked down upon for wanting to spend time taking pictures. Lastly, you will benefit from the expert tuition and encouragement from Eid Nawafleh, a professional travel photographer. The land arrangements for these tours are provided by some of the most established names in the adventure travel industry, giving you the benefits of their experience as well as Eid’s knowledge as a professional photographer.
Better Travel Photography’s range of Photography ToursAs Eid Nawafleh is trying to juggle his professional and family life with running these tours, we are only planning three departures a year. The key to these trips is coming up with unique and stimulating travel photography experiences, so the itineraries and destinations will regularly change. Each of these photo trips explores the highlights of the area, and we are trying to schedule in order to visit a different festival or unique cultural event with each departure, giving us the greatest possible cultural experience as well as a fantastic opportunity for shooting portraits and local color.
Currently, the tours that we have scheduled or are in the pipeline are as follows: Some are under development; others are confirmed and available for booking. To get to the individual tour pages, click on the images to the right.
Impressions Jordan
Jordan is a fascinating place: a mountainous, landlocked country in the Middle East with a rich heritage. The Nature Reserves and Petra City have an incredible history, with many temples, palaces, and Wadi Rum deserts. Jerash and Um Qais are to the north of Westar at the foot of the mighty range, and on clear days, they have fantastic views of this impressive range. Aqaba, to the south, is one of the best places to see the Red Sea in the sub-continent.
About Our Photography Tours:
The tours are primarily designed around photography and we aim to visit as many places as possible in the best light and spend as much time as we can take pictures. On one of these trips you will learn more about travel photography that you ever thought possible. But these tours are about more than photography and learning: we also aim to give you an enjoyable holiday in Jordan where you can explore, relax in Dead Sea, interact with locals and see some of the amazing highlights in Jordan that your destination has to offer.
All land arrangements are provided by Jordan Tours who has over 21 years of experience in running small group adventures, meaning you are fully protected by their travel industry bonding.
Learn Travel Photography:
On one of JordanTours you will be shown as many photographic opportunities as possible and receive custom tuition in all aspects of travel photography. Jordan Tours mixes illustrated talks most evenings, group practical demonstrations, individual tuition and photo critiques to tailor learning to your own needs and interests. Although primarily for people who want to learn more about Digital Travel Photography, you will learn a vast amount if you still shoot film.
Travelling with other keen photographers, allows you to benefit from their enthusiasm and also be in a picture-taking environment where your hobby will not just be tolerated, but actively encouraged and by other members of the group.
